AHHHHH…..Happy Monday! My hubby loves to restore antique tractors…..it’s one of those things that if he gets the chance, he’ll spend the whole day outside…..til it runs. He says he never worries about what they look like, only that they run by the end of the day. We spent this weekend at the Harvest Fair locally, and it was just an old fashioned kick in the pants. There were crafts, food, tractor pulls, everything simple and old time.

I started to think of how the simplicity of the weekend made me relax. We were so busy, going from booth to booth, and an old fashioned church service outside in the arena. But something about going back in time a bit, and just enjoying the old things, made us relax. It was a memory worth repeating and looking forward to next year. Of course a lot of my thinking was about God, and how He takes us and doesn’t worry so much about the cosmetics of the outside as He does getting us to run right on the inside. You can put coat, after coat of paint on something, yet if it doesn’t run or realize it’s strength, it’s just still a piece of pretty junk. Getting the inside in line with Gods Word, will make the outside shine, regardless of how we feel.

There are over 55 verses about restoration……my favorite has to be

Hosea: 6:2 In just a short time, He will restore us so we can live in his presence. (NLT)

What a wonderful day that will be!

Yes she does have a beautiful voice! I love singing with this girl! I think I'm on the one song..."Take My Breath Away" - in fact, GG, my husband (inWorship) and myself are all singing on that one. It's a very special one to me. But my favorite, favorite one is "Holy"...to much for words really.....

I wish there more people like your husband who take the time to repair something that's broken instead of just throwing stuff away.

Of course I am much better at breaking things than fixing them. I did manage to change a light bulb once. :).

I would agree that whatever we may look like to the outside world, what is more important is the spirit that exist inside ourselves.

We can spend all the time and money we want on their appearances, but that can't change the person we in our hearts.

Restoring, and maintaining, our spirit is as important a task as any we may encounter.

"But something about going back in time a bit, and just enjoying the old things, made us relax."

I am reminded of a documentary called "Ben's Mill". Ben Thresher owed a small water-powered mill and did jobs for local farmers. See the links below.
I highly recommended'.

Ben Thresher's mill is one of the few water-powered, wood-working mills left in this country. Operating in rural Vermont since 1848, the mill is a unique link between the age of craft and the age of modern industry.

Ben still uses his machines and finely crafted tools to turn out a watering tub (a task that he accomplishes in one day), and a horsedrawn sled for his neighbors in the farming community.

The film evokes the quality of rural New England life, and at the same time provides a close, step-by-step view of Ben's woodworking processes.

Ed, I love seeing you back on the blogs! How was house and cat sitting last week? 6 cats?! I do love me some cats - but six...eeecks! Hope you enjoyed yourself...

Tam, I love animals, I just don't like living with them. I had fun feeding the deer, groundhogs, birds other outdoor critters.

The 4:00 am feeding of the cats was not so much fun. My cousin gets up before dawn so she can beat the traffic jams. She also gets to leave work early to beat the traffic home.

Having cat hair in/on everything is another thing I am not too fond of. The first thing I did when I got home was wash all my clothes. Twice!

Well, leave for a bit and my goodness the gangs all here!!!! YAY! Ed, I don't know what it is about you, but I have to go back and read the rest of your blog....I'm just crying for no reason here...so glad you're back. You inspire me, and I'm glad you're not experiencing any long term effects like hucking hairballs! You are special friend. I hope you stay put now for awhile!

Darla: It truly blesses my heart that you like the CD. Tam and B were much more to me than backup vocalists, they were and continue to be a rock in the flesh. Give me a date and I'm there girl!!!! I would love to share and sing at your church anytime! Love you!

You've reminded me of an old Somerset verse which you have to have a Somerset accent to get away with:
I can't read, I can't write
But that don't really matter
'Cos I come down from Somerset
And I can drive a tractor.

I used to get dragged along to these old fairs when I was a wee nipper. My parents were from Cambridgeshire and Norfolk so there was always old tractor and car shows. My uncle Harry would always be repairing his old tractor so he could put it in the show. They made those things to last.

Now that those times have passed I actually find myself missing them. I think my kids would be bored by them though.

Ya, you're right Hov, our kids loved them until they found out things went faster than an old John Deere.....Now that they are in the twenties, and gotten a few tickets, they're starting to like them again...tee hee. What a fun memory tho!

My hubby likes to fix things too. He will work and work until it is done or he is just too exhausted to continue. He has a project in the backyard called "Maynard." It is his 195? Jeep Willis. But he also has to fix his jeep when the parts come in.

I love the county fairs. We now live in an area that doesnt have a fair. We have to travel at least 3 hours to go anywhere. I think the nearest fair now is in Dallas. (See LPM blog.) My boys dont know that experience. I love how you tied that up with how we are on the inside. Oh how the Lord has been working me from the inside out. I am so grateful for His restoration process.

Thanks for referring InWorship to my blog. It was an interesting experience I had with the boys. I feel out numbered being the only woman in the home! So I have to get into their "world" sometimes.

Blessings in Christ--
